DESCRIPTION

A Peacock Mantis Shrimp mother holds her brightly colored red eggs against her belly as she looks straight into the camera. Her alien like appearance gives this picture a supernatural atmosphere. As Mantis shrimps are known to use their claws are weapons that can punch at speeds of more than 50 miles an hour, it took me about an hour to gain her trust to get close enough to capture this other worldly photo. It truly is a different world underwater, there is still so much left to discover.
